Chapter History

Gamma Tau Sigma was chartered on December 26, 1964 in Long Beach, California under the leadership of Soror Zephyr Gill, former Western Region Syntaktes.  Gamma Tau Sigma was chartered by 10 sorors: Shirley Addison, Gervice Brown, Ethledra Claxton, Arnette Deering, Brenda Hicks, Claudia Hyman, Barbara Keesee, Merry Miles, Rosalind Mills, and Barbara L. Smith.  GTS was formed to serve as the advising chapter for the undergraduate chapter Gamma Kappa at California State University, Long Beach which Gamma Tau Sigma still advises today.

Currently, Gamma Tau Sigma has an active membership of over 55 sorors and continues to grow in membership.


The chapter has received a number of awards and honors.
