Gamma Kappa 

THE

STORY

​

The Gamma Kappa Chapter was the first black Greek letter organization at California State University, Long Beach.  The Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was granted their colony status in February 1964 and was chartered on June 14, 1968 by eight women whose names are:

Yvonne Rose Carter

Gloria Macklin

Joysteen Shepard-Toliver (member of Gamma Tau Sigma)

Yvonne Davis

Barbara Keesee 

Mattie Parmes

Norma Wills

Karin Martin Howard (member of Gamma Tau Sigma)


Gamma Kappa is currently advised by the Gamma Tau Sigma Alumnae Chapter. ​
